Lovely! My wife is Japanese and the first time she saw a fire fly was in a travel in South America.
I believe it is a hard task to find it here in Japan.
You did a great job.

What is the location? And what day? I would like to visit this place!

Well actually I took this image in Germany. However as I was in Japan there was in Daikakuji-temple (Kyoto) a ceremony when the priests let the fireflies (see images in my firefly folder).
But I saw them also in Nara to the west of Todaiji on the way from the temple complex. I was really angry that I didn't have my equipment with me since I tried to photograph them the day before in, but obviously in the wrong place.

OH! Nara! Ｉ’ｖｅ　been there late 2010. they have a very tasty rice cake.
For your next travel I'll suggest you the mountains of Yamanashi. I'll be there next summer to take some photos of the milky way.
